Having grown up in Savannah Susan knows and loves her community. She has spent many years helping shape Savannah's development while preserving its historic heritage. Participation in the renewal of downtown led her to pursue a master's degree in historic preservation.

Through her extensive involvement with Historic Savannah Foundation she has become conversant with the procedures for the federal and state historic tax credits and with the property freeze as well as the facade easement program. Although her focus has been on properties in the different historic districts, her 15 years on the City and County Zoning Boards of Appeal and her work with the Tax Board of Equalization has given her a comprehensive knowledge of Savannah and Chatham County. Her involvement in the community has provided her with a unique perspective and with extensive background information about the city and surrounding areas. She is licensed in both Georgia and South Carolina.
