Filming Just Got a Little Bit Easier...and more profitable.

In an effort to bring more Hollywood to our Dogwoods, Sonny Perdue signed into legislation a bill to give tax incentives for film productions in Georgia.  In turn, shining another light on our charming city of Savannah.

Wine Lovers Rejoice!--Second Saturday Soiree & Grand Opening of Eos

The "Second Saturday Soiree" was held on Saturday evening, May 10th, at Eos, the fun new restaurant at the corner of Habersham and 34th Street. 

Over 60 people were present for the grand opening party which featured tastings of 35 different wines presented by 7 different wine purveyors, accompanied by "small plates."

Shakespeare available to all. Savannah continues to make art available to residents and visitors alike.

Turtles Make a Splash!

I bet you didn't realize that the Lowcountry waterways are home to numerous types of turtles and that 75% of the turtle species lin the US ive in the Southeast.

Well, they are in front of the JCB manfucturing plant.  I recently had the opportunity to tour the facility and it was very impressive. 

Architecture Outside of the Box...Frank Gehry Visits Savannah

 

Frank Gehry,  Internationally renowned architect and winner of the Pritzker Prize , was a guest lecturer in Savannah, on Monday, April 28th. Presented by SCAD Style 2008 the Savannah College of Art and Design’s signature style and design event, Mr. Gehry showed slides and  spoke to a standing-room only crowd at the Trustees Theatre.

Mr. Gehry discussed some of his best known works, including the titanium-covered Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles, and  Dancing House   in Prague, Czech Republic. Following the lecture, he  took questions from the audience, leading to a lively discussion.

A truly a remarkable evening- -another example of why Savannah is so special.

Savannah's known for its world class restorations of historic homes, but what if your house isn't considered a "national monument"?
