Savannah started 2009 with a bang. The Times of London's Dec. 27th gave a run-down of "The Best events around  the world in 2009 and The Savannah Music Festival was the only U.S. event to make the list!

For more music and excitement just wait until the spring when the Savannah Music Festival kicks off the 2009 Season March 19th.  It lasts for two weeks and goes until April 5th.  Some notable acts this year will be something for everybody, quite literally the most diverse line up the festival (in it's 16th year I believe???) has ever had.

This past Saturday I attended an event geared towards young professionals at the Telfair. At $100 per ticket, you were entitled to $20,000 in "funny money," hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and a great time. . .

 

Michael Cunningham, Pulitzer Prize winning author visits Savannah!

Just another Tuesday evening in Savannah!   Michael Cunningham, Pulitzer Prize winning author of "The Hours," was guest speaker for the 1st annual Ashley and Terry Usrey Memorial Lecture Series, sponsored by the Flannery O'Connor Childhood Home Foundation.  The audience enjoyed a great lecture with a question and answer period, followed by a reception to meet the artist and a book signing.  Check out the Flannery O'Connor Childhood Home Foundation.

Filming Just Got a Little Bit Easier...and more profitable.

In an effort to bring more Hollywood to our Dogwoods, Sonny Perdue signed into legislation a bill to give tax incentives for film productions in Georgia.  In turn, shining another light on our charming city of Savannah.
