The Idyllic Emerald Pointe Community

Emerald Pointe is one of those idyllic communities it seems everyone dreams of!  Just minutes from downtown Savannah, and gated, it's the best of both worlds when it comes to privacy and accessibility. According to CDSIR agent, and Emerald Pointe resident, Lavinia Strong, all of the neighbors know one another and the community feel is just great.   What is Life Like in Emerald Pointe? "We cookout by the pool and relax on porches overlooking the marsh, the community has sidewalks and a walking trail, and you can always find kids fishing or crabbing in the lagoons. A favorite every year is the 4th of July bike parade where children decorate bikes and Halloween is packed with lots of friends and a party in the clubhouse."...

Get Your Garage Ready for that new Electric Car

Electric vehicles are inexpensive to fuel, maintain and are becoming more affordable! Although the technology is new and maybe a bit unfamiliar, you are closer than you think to be ready to own an electric car! Ensure that your garage is prepared for an electric car before you bring it home by having the correct charger available. The charger that you're installing is referred to as an EVSE (Electric Vehicle Service Equipment). It is a box that is mounted to the wall and functions as a communication and safety unit for the charger that is in the actual vehicle. Luckily, the standard 120v outlet in your garage can support most of the electric vehicles charging requirements without any additional investments. However,...

Bring the Comfort of Indoor Living, Outdoors

A design trend that we've been following as the year heats up is outdoor living spaces that mimic the comforts of the indoors. Homeowners are turning their backyards into an extension of their homes and the focus is on fully functional outdoors. Make your yard work for your lifestyle!   When designing your space outdoors, delineate the spaces the same way you would an indoor room - think large area rugs, anchor furniture, and interesting lighting. Decorate seating areas with large cushions and blankets in accent colors for visual interest. Don't shy away from the dramatic! A hanging chandelier can add glamour and warmth to your space. Bring out the trend of mixing textures and materials to your outdoor living room by using layering techniques.   Another...

New Vernonburg Listings: A Look into this Historic Savannah District

Celia Dunn SIR currently has two magnificent listings in the Savannah neighborhood of Vernonburg! Vernonburg is a historic small coastal town, 10 miles away from downtown Savannah. The city has both residential communities and preserved archaeological developments from its founding days. Colonial Vernonburg was situated along the main street called Rockwell Avenue on very small lots. By the early 19th century, these smaller lots were left for larger sites closer to the bluffs, which left the original archaeological developments behind. The current historic houses in Vernonburg were built between 1840-1940 using primarily brick or stucco in construction. Vernonburg expanded in the 18th century when German craftsmen settled the area and later became a vacation destination for wealthy Savannah residents. Today, Vernonberg is an attractive residential area with large homes and extensive landscaping Let's take...

Stainless Steel Appliances … See Ya Later?

Stainless steel appliances in today’s kitchens – in a word, ubiquitous. For decades. Why? Well, perhaps it was because we just got darn tired of avocado and harvest gold appliances. Too young to remember that? Lucky you. They were everywhere! Then there was white and black and then…stainless. It looked high end, like an expensive commercial kitchen. If they were installed in your kitchen, voila! You automatically gained a reputation as a gourmand. Even if you didn’t know a BTU from an IOU.   The Ubiquitous Stainless Steel Appliances       Color in the Kitchen?     Eventually, the market was inundated with fingerprint stained stainless steel in every updated kitchen in America, available in every price point. Sooo, have we grown tired of it? Maybe. Will we...
